Plantains Chips

These African plantain chips are extremely crispy and taste so good, they are made from unripe plantains and fried in hot vegetable oil.

Makes 3 cups    Prep: 10 min      cooking time:  6 min

Ingredients:

  • 3 green, unripe plantains
  • ½ tsp of salt
  • Vegetable Oil for deep frying

Instructions:

1 - Peel and slice the green plantains as thin as possible.

2 - Soak them for 5 minutes in warm water to wash away the excess starch.

 3 - Drain the plantain from the water and season with salt.

4 - Heat the vegetable oil at 350F and fry the plantain until golden brown. 

5 - Remove and place in a paper towel to remove the excess oil.

The chips can be served hot or warm.
