Chin Chin Recipe

Chin Chin is called with different names in West Africa. It is known as Croquettes in French speaking countries, Chin Chin in Nigeria, Ochomo in Ghana. These snacks are sweet and crunchy, perfect for family and friend catering.

Makes 3 cups     Prep: 25 min    cooking time: 10 min

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of flour (All purpose flour)
  • ½ cup of white sugar
  • 2 egg
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup milk,
  • 2 tbsp of ground nutmeg
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

1 - In a large bowl, add the flour, sugar, nutmeg and mix well.

2 - Rub the butter in until it mixes well with the flour and suger mixture.

3 - Stir in the egg, milk and mix well. Knead the dough until smooth.

- Dust your coating board with flour and place int the dough.

5 - Roll out the dough and flatten it. Cut the dough into little squares, each square about ½ inches by ½ inch.

6 - Heat the vegetable oil until very hot and drop a few handfuls of the squares dough. Fry until until golden brown. Make sure to stir occasionally to prevent it from sticking together.

7 - Remove and place on a paper towel to absorb the excess oil.

Let cool down and serve.
